Dermal Filler

Dermal Filler

Dermal Filler is a popular facial rejuvenation treatment that helps restore the lost volume in the face, define contours and smooth out wrinkles. Dermal Filler injections are a technique-sensitive treatment, which requires a deep understanding and knowledge of facial anatomy and should only be carried out by trained medical professionals.

Benefits of Dermal Filler Treatments

  • Dermal fillers can help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by plumping up underlying skin layers so that wrinkles appear less prominent on the surface

  •  Dermal fillers can help to plump up thin lips for a fuller, more voluminous pout. It can also be used to reshape unevenly sized lips or turn down corners of the mouth for a more natural-looking smile

  •  Dermal fillers can help restore volume to cheeks that have begun sagging due to age or facial volume loss by adding fullness and definition back into this area of the face for a more youthful appearance overall

  • Dermal fillers can help contour certain areas of the face where there may be issues with symmetry or asymmetry in order to achieve balance between both sides of your face while enhancing your natural features at the same time.

  • Dermal fillers can reduce dark circles under eyes by adding volume beneath this area which helps mask shadows created by sunken skin layers around this delicate area of your face for an instantly refreshed look!

  • Dermal fillers can brighten up dull complexions by adding hydration back into dehydrated skin layers which makes it appear more radiant and glowing overall.

  • Dermal filler injections give you an overall younger-looking appearance because they work on restoring volume loss from aging as well as helping smooth out deep wrinkles or folds in order to create a smoother texture on your skin’s surface over time.

  • Dermal filler treatments are considered minimally-invasive procedures with little downtime required afterwards so you’ll be able enjoy your new look right away without having too much downtime post-treatment returning to normal activities faster.

  • Dermal filler treatments are customized specifically for each individual based on their individual goals so you know that you’ll get results tailored just for you!

What Causes The Tell-Tale Signs Of Ageing?

As we age, the skin loses both its structural strength and visible volume.  The facial aging process involves a combination of changes in the skin, muscles, bones, and fat, leading to a gradual shift in facial features. These changes include loss of firmness, wrinkles, drooping skin, and a change in the overall shape of the face.

  • Collagen and Elastin Loss: These proteins are essential for skin firmness and elasticity. As collagen and elastin production declines with age, the skin loses its ability to maintain its shape and structure.
  • Fat Pad Shift: Fat pads in the face shift downwards, leading to a loss of volume in the upper cheeks and temples, and a build up of fat in the lower face and neck.
  • Bone Changes: Bones gradually lose mass and density with age, affecting the underlying structure of the face and contributing to sagging skin.
  • Skin Changes: The outer layer of the skin becomes thinner, more fragile, and less elastic.
  • Muscle Weakening: Muscles supporting the face and neck lose their strength and tone, contributing to sagging and drooping.

Genetics, diet and lifestyle factors (alcohol, stress, smoking) can also impact the speed in which this process occurs. Along with environmental factors such as free radicals and sun exposure which causes the skin to lose elasticity, and this results in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Dermal Filler Treatment

The actual procedure for dermal fillers is relatively quick, usually taking about 30 to 60 minutes.

On the day of the procedure, the treatment area will be cleaned, and a topical anesthetic may be applied to minimise discomfort. The practitioner will then use a fine needle or cannula to carefully inject the filler into the targeted areas. You may feel slight pressure or a pinch during the injections, but the discomfort is generally minimal.

After the injections, the practitioner will gently massage the treated areas to ensure even distribution of the filler and smooth results. There may be some mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites, but these side effects should subside within a few days.

Consultation

A consultation will be carried out prior to having the treatment done to check your suitability, and to better understand your skin concerns. This will allow them to provide a bespoke treatment plan for you. Post treatment, a complimentary aesthetic review is provided to monitor and assess your results after two weeks. During this appointment any required top-ups can also be administered.
