Anti Wrinkle Injections
Anti-wrinkle injections are extremely effective in treating all areas of the face including crow’s feet, forehead lines, frown lines and the gummy smile to reduce the signs of ageing or to balance facial proportions. Anti-wrinkle injections are a technique-sensitive treatment, which requires a deep understanding and knowledge of facial anatomy and muscle movement carried out by trained medical professionals.
They are also highly effective in treating other medical concerns such as Bruxism (teeth grinding), Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and chronic headaches (migraines).
Benefits of Anti-Wrinkle Treatments
What Causes The Tell-Tale Signs Of Ageing?
As we age, collagen that is found naturally in the skin begins to deplete. This along with environmental factors such as free radicals and sun exposure causes the skin to lose elasticity, and this results in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Genetics, diet and lifestyle factors (alcohol, stress, smoking) can also impact the speed in which this process occurs.
The muscles in the face naturally contract and expand to form expressions, and while it’s a completely natural process, it is one that will cause frown lines and crow’s feet to develop over time. For instance, continuous frowning and raising of the eyebrows can cause lines to develop in between the two brows, whilst squinting and laughing causes the muscles around the eyes to contract, resulting in what you may know to be called crow’s feet.
Anti-wrinkle Treatment
Anti-wrinkle injections are a prescription-only medicine (POM), which is injected into the skin to block nerve signals and reduce muscle movement on a temporary basis. This relaxes the muscles, which can reduce and soften wrinkles and fine lines. This treatment is one of the most extensively studied medical aesthetic treatments and is approved for cosmetic use in 78 countries as the safety and efficacy has been clinically proven.
Consultation
A consultation will be carried out prior to having the treatment done to check your suitability, and to better understand your skin concerns. This will allow them to provide a bespoke treatment plan for you. Post treatment, a complimentary aesthetic review is provided to monitor and assess your results after two weeks. During this appointment any required top-ups can also be administered.
Frown lines are deep lines, which form between the eyebrows as a result of the two muscle groups regularly contracting and relaxing when frowning. Frown lines are often just two lines between the brows, however, if left untreated for long enough a more permanent third line can appear, which is known as the ‘11’s’ line.
Forehead lines can be present across the width of the forehead as you lift the brows. If you are particularly expressionate when speaking you may find that these lines become more prominent and permanent more quickly.
Crow’s feet are the lines around your eyes that you may find yourself being more drawn to in a lovely smiley photo – the one thing you don’t want to notice first in your favourite family photo.
Crow’s feet, like most fine lines and wrinkles can be ageing. Make-up tends to crease around the eye area accentuating the lines and making your eyes appear smaller, and more tired.
Bunny lines are small wrinkles across the bridge of the nose, which are often most visible when laughing.
Treated with anti-wrinkle injections, bunny lines can be easily smoothed with two small injections to prevent the lines forming deeper and becoming more permanent.
The ‘lip flip’ – performed by injecting anti-wrinkle treatment just above the top lip to create the illusion of a fuller lip.
It can also be injected into the muscles that pull down the corners of the mouth, which can help lift and smooth them out.
The vertical lines that run from the lip up to the nose can also be treated in this way.
The mentalis muscle becomes more rigid around the chin as part of the natural ageing process. This can sometimes result in the chin appearing more pointed and prominent, which can cause the facial features to appear slightly unbalanced.
Anti-wrinkle injections can also treat a ‘dimpled’ chin. If you notice the chin looking dimpled when speaking or with some facial expressions, anti-wrinkle injections can help to relax the muscle and smooth the chin to prevent dimpling.
Teeth grinding, jaw clenching and tension headaches believe it or not can all be related. All of these symptoms can be massively reduced and treated effectively with anti-wrinkle injections.
Teeth grinding and regular jaw clenching can result in over-working the masseter muscle, which can become significantly enlarged and make the jaw appear square and over-prominent. Sometimes this can make the jaw look unbalanced and larger on one side of the face. As well as the muscle becoming enlarged, regular clenching can also build tension and cause headaches.
There are several benefits to treating the masseter muscle with anti-wrinkle injectables, including a reduction in the jaw muscle, to reduce teeth grinding and jaw clenching and prevent tension headaches. This can also give the jaw a slimmer appearance.
When considering anti-ageing treatments, people can often easily overlook the neck area, which is an area that can reveal tell-tale signs of ageing.
Platysmal bands are muscles which are long, narrow and string-like, which can protrude from either side of the base of the neck when being expressionate during speech. Anti-wrinkle treatment can soften these muscles as an extremely effective anti-ageing treatment revealing a rejuvenated, more youthful appearance.
